Chant D'aromes by Guerlain, Chant D'aromes, translated to mean “song of aroma,” was developed by Jean-Paul Guerlain in 1962. The fragrance is intended to be a refreshing floral scent for women for out-on-town wear and contains natural essential oils that are part of the “chypre” olfactory group. Top notes for this fragrance include plum, gardenia, citruses, and aldehydes. Middle notes are an enticing bouquet of honeysuckle, ylang-ylang, and jasmine with the spicy touch of clove. Base notes are heliotrope, vanilla, sandalwood, benzoin, olibanum, and vetiver. The legendary Guerlain perfume house was founded in 1828 by Pierre-Francois Pascal Guerlain. The house was originally a business for common hygiene products and gradually gained tout for fragrances eventually resulting in Guerlain becoming the official perfumer for many European royal courts. Guerlain always preferred to use rare and luxurious materials for his fragrances, including ylang-ylang from his family’s plantation in the Comoro Islands and French vanilla.
