DetailA great blend Vinho do Porto (this is the name of origin in Portugal) owes its birth to the 100-year war: unable to import wine from France, the English decided to call on Portugal. To prevent the wine from going bad during the long journey and to block its fermentation, they added it up with brandy; the result was a sweet wine, fragrant but full bodied, robust. Graham has always been one of the most important names for the production of Porto and has been extremely successful since the early years in 1820. Founded by William Graham, firm supporter of the potential of the family vineyard, it initially started quietly and then expanded with exports, around the '70s, first in England and Scotland and afterwards far beyond the Channel, in Europe and the rest of the world. Always attentive to tradition, but with an eye to advanced technologies, the Grahams continue to carry on the name of the true Port of quality, making wine out of almost 50 different types of grapes and their Tawny is among the highest expressions ever, with a longer aging in barrels to give off all the aromas and create an even stronger but extremely soft flavour. In this wine there are decades of history, to give you an essence that will amaze you. It is amber in colour with coppery reflections, very bright. The nose is a carnival of aromas, between toasted notes of coffee, nuts likes hazelnuts and almonds, passing through apricot in syrup and ending with slightly balsamic, almost salty tones. But this nose does not end because every sniff identifies something different. The tasting confirms the smell, with a sweet but firm input, a sugary perception present but supported by the right freshness almost of small red fruits and citrus, to accompany an endless persistence that leaves the mouth dry.
