The saw is equipped with a plastic throat plate. A throat plate should be solid and and ridged, not flexible. The plate that comes with the saw is extremely flexible, and bends down, and in towards the blade while pushing a work piece though. When ripping wood, you have to apply slight pressure on top and to the side against the fence to the workpiece so that it does not ride up on to the blade or bind in between the fence and the blade. This soft flexible plate allows the workpiece to dive slightly down and towards the blade, not only causing a wavy cut, but also the potential for binding and kickback. This soft flexible plate allows the workpiece to dive slightly down and towards the blade, not only causing a wavy cut, but also the potential for binding and kickback. This is especially risky when making thinner rips that are supported exclusively on the throat plate. That's where zero clearance plates are ideal. I have never seen a saw with a plastic plate, especially in the most sensitive area, around the blade.2. The outfeed end of the fence slides up to a ¼” while locked. With both ends of the fence securely placed and locked on the provided screw pegs, you can then slide the table rulered sled left and right to your desired width. You then press down the locking level under the table to prevent the fence assembly from moving before you cut. The front operating end of the fence locks well and does not move, but the back outfeed end easily moves up to a ¼” , and especially when cutting heavier or wider materials. This shift in the back end of the fence allows the workpiece to become racked in between the blade and the fence, which can cause bad cuts, binding, and kickback. These problems are not unique to the saw I bought. Out of curiosity, I checked out the floor models in two different Lowe’s and they all are the same. Despite what features may be good about this saw, the soft flexible plate and loose racked fence make this saw objectively dangerous. This is even more concerning since the price point and brand in general is tailored to those who may not necessarily know what to look for in a saw, especially in regards to safety/quality. Spend a little extra money and get something safe. That’s ultimately what matters
